Gender, conflict and peace-building: on the margins of development

This report helps to frame and clarify UNESCO’s strategic role, gender-specific programmes and capacity in PCPD situations, to improve upon UNESCO’s current and future interventions. UNESCO seeks to better assist women and girls in PCPD affected communities, empowering them to develop and assume a stronger role in peace processes and reconstruction efforts, and to gain a more active presence as civic participants involved in policy- making in the political and social arena, by improving and better designing effective interventions to promote gender equality and uphold women’s rights in PCPD situations.
