Peacebuilding, education and advocacy in conflict-affected contexts programme: UNICEF Myanmar 2014 annual report

The Myanmar Country Office (MCO) Peacebuilding, Education and Advocacy (PBEA) country programme was initiated in late 2013, almost two years after the global programme’s inception. The delayed participation was the result of a variety of factors, the most prominent of which were: (1) the overstretched capacity of the MCO’s Education Section; and (2) concerns about formally working on peacebuilding and education – which joining the PBEA programme would have represented. After laying a deeper foundation of trust around the sector reform process, and explaining the purpose and focus of PBEA to senior MoE counterparts, the MCO agreed to join PBEA in October 2013. The MCO is now slightly past the midpoint of its planned implementation, which is currently scheduled to end in December 2015.
