The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the education of almost 1.5 billion learners in nearly 200 countries (UNESCO, 2020). Countries have responded rapidly to this crisis, designing alternative education plans in an attempt to maintain continuity of education service provision. This brief contains the results of an analysis of 13 national COVID-19 education response plans from across Africa and Asia. This analysis highlights three elements which should be considered when building a COVID-19 education response plan:
