The purpose of this background paper is to articulate the challenges of providing education to vulnerable migrants –those who are forcibly displaced by natural disasters, food insecurity, climate change, and war –and the impact of these challenges on the future trajectories and prospects of the forcibly displaced. The findings and contributions of this paper will help inform the research for the 2019 GEM Report, which will address different types of migration (voluntary and forced, short term and permanent) both within and across international frontiers.
